Recognised as South Africa’s biggest walk, the annual Discovery 702 Walk the Talk took place on Sunday morning 22 July, a wonderful winter’s morning. Over 50 000 walkers and 1 500 dogs took to the streets of Jo’burg.
This is the second year that Virgin Money South Africa has taken part in the event. Dotted in red amongst high level government officials and prominent South Africans like police minister Nathi Mthethwa, Gauteng’s new health MEC, Hope Papa, Miss South Africa Melinda Bam and of course Virgin Money MD Vinay Padayachee to name a few.
Virginites and their partners took part in the fun 5 km walk which is an ideal opportunity for quality time with their partners and other colleagues, stopping at various corners for a photo opportunity and to listen to the entertainers along the route.
The walk is always inspiring to see people come together from all walks of life to join each other in a fun, feel-good activity. It epitomises good health and community building – not to mention supporting a worthy cause, the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation that brings about social change using sport.
